washing machine help wanted

Recommended Posts

Just had a new washing machine .As im not that bad at diy i put it in myself ,on the old one there were two pipes in hot and cold on the new one there's only one so off to B&Q where i bought a Y shaped fitting put this on jobs done. Now it ran ok for a while but when the machine stopped the over flow in the roof started running .I think the cold water is forcing its way back up the hot pipe and into the tank in the roof space causing it to over flow .Thing is what to do to stop this ? should i blank off the hot pipe and just connect the cold ? or has any one got any other ideas

new ones only run with cold water I think and heat it up if needed, so you don't need the Y shaped fitting, just a cold pipe into it

it only has a cold water feed on the machine so you only need that pipe attached not a Y fitting so that you can put the hot on it as well doesnt need it heats ist own water

and without wanting to sound like an old woman, all that bollocks about some powders working at 15 or 21 degrees C is exactly that, bollocks. Now excuse me for a few minutes, I just want to carry on with my knitting for a bit so I don't miss a stitch :bye:

Agreed - it'll be strictly cold water and heats it up inside.

I had one, it died a terrible death. And ya it sucked up the electric but now I've got an older one that uses hot and cold water instead and it eats my gas. There's no getting away from it

Since I have kids and dogs, and much experience with stain removal, I can assure you - washing heavily stained clothes with fancy power at 30 is a load of bollocks
